1. How is this different from a regular facial?
A regular facial works on the surface. HydraFacial® Platinum works in three directions at once. It exfoliates dead skin, extracts congestion from inside the pore, and simultaneously infuses therapeutic serums deep into the skin using patented vortex-fusion technology. No manual squeezing. No guessing. No recovery period. Add in lymphatic drainage and LED therapy, and you have a full-system reset.
2. What will my skin look like immediately after?
Most clients leave with visibly smoother, dewier, more even-toned skin right after the appointment. Pores look cleaner. Texture is refined. The skin has a glow that doesn't look "done." It looks like your skin, at its best. Most clients don't feel the need to apply makeup before leaving.
3. Does it hurt?
No. The treatment is designed to be comfortable throughout. The cleansing and exfoliation phases feel like a gentle pass across the skin. The extraction phase which uses vortex suction rather than manual squeezing, creates a mild pulling sensation that most clients find satisfying rather than uncomfortable. If you have sensitive skin, your provider will adjust the intensity accordingly.
4. Is it worth it for a one-time treatment, or do I need a plan?
Both have genuine value. A single Platinum session delivers real, immediate results which is why it's a popular choice before events, weddings, or whenever your skin needs a reset. A plan is where the compounding benefits come in: each session builds on the last, and skin health improves in a sustained, progressive way. If you're considering HydraFacial® as part of a broader skin strategy alongside laser or injectables, a plan is the stronger investment.
5. I've never had a professional skin treatment before. Is this a good place to start?
Yes, this is one of the most common entry points into professional skincare, and for good reason. It's non-invasive, comfortable, delivers visible results immediately, and requires no recovery time. There's no risk of looking worse before you look better. You'll leave with an understanding of what your skin needs, a booster calibrated to your goals, and a clear picture of what ongoing care could look like.
6. I have acne-prone skin. Is this right for me?
Yes, and HydraFacial® is one of the most effective options for congested, acne-prone skin. The vortex extraction deeply decongests pores without the inflammation that comes from manual extractions. The salicylic acid phase helps clear buildup, and your provider can select an acne-targeting booster to further address active breakouts. If you have active cystic acne, your provider will assess this during intake and adjust the protocol accordingly.
7. Why choose HydraFacial® Platinum over a chemical peel before an event?
No downtime. A chemical peel, especially anything medium or deeper requires a recovery period and should never be scheduled close to an event. HydraFacial® Platinum delivers comparable clarity and radiance with zero risk to your event-day skin. You walk out looking better. There's no peeling, redness, or "in-between" phase to manage.
8. Will HydraFacial® Platinum replace my need for laser treatments?
No and it's not designed to. HydraFacial® and laser treatments serve different roles in the same skin plan. Laser addresses deeper structural concerns: pigmentation, redness, collagen loss, scarring. HydraFacial® maintains the skin between those sessions, keeps your barrier healthy, and ensures your skin is in the best possible condition to respond to more intensive work. The two are stronger together than either is alone.
9. How do you ensure the treatment is right for my skin?
Negative experiences with HydraFacial® are almost always traced back to the same cause: treatment performed on skin that wasn't properly screened first. Active rosacea flare-ups, open lesions, conditions that contraindicate the use of acids or suction. At Blue Door, every session includes a contraindication review before your provider begins. If the treatment isn't right for your skin that day, we don't proceed. The screening is part of what you're paying for.
10. What is lymphatic drainage and why is it part of the Platinum protocol?
Lymphatic drainage is a gentle technique that stimulates the lymphatic system to flush excess fluid, toxins, and inflammation from the tissue. At the start of your Platinum session, it reduces puffiness, improves circulation, and gives the skin a more sculpted, clearer appearance without needles or downtime. It also primes the skin to absorb the serums that follow more effectively, which is why it opens the protocol rather than appearing at any other point.
11. If I stop coming monthly, will my skin get worse?
No. Regular sessions build and maintain skin health. They don't create a dependency. If you stop, your skin doesn't deteriorate; it simply no longer has the benefit of ongoing deep maintenance. Think of it the way you'd think of a gym membership: consistency builds results, skipping doesn't reverse them, and coming back always picks up where you left off.
12. Is my protocol the same every visit, or does it change?
It's calibrated to your skin each time you come in. Your skin condition shifts with seasons, stress, hormones, and your homecare routine, so the booster selection and protocol intensity adapt accordingly. You'll always receive the same five-step Platinum structure, but what goes into it is adjusted for where your skin is that day.
13. Does it help with acne scars?
HydraFacial® Platinum is not a primary treatment for acne scarring. It won't correct the texture of pitted or atrophic scars. What it does is reduce the active congestion and inflammation that contribute to ongoing breakouts, and improve overall skin tone and clarity. For acne scar correction, Microneedling is the more targeted path. Many clients use both: HydraFacial® for ongoing maintenance, Microneedling for structural scar remodelling.
14. What's the difference between the drop-in and the Architectural Plan?
14. My friend had a bad laser experience - how is MOXI™ different from aggressive lasers?
15. Is this a professionally guided treatment?
Yes. HydraFacial® is a medical-grade platform. At Blue Door, every session is delivered by a trained provider following a structured clinical protocol. Your treatment begins with a brief in-clinic assessment to confirm the protocol is appropriate and calibrated to your skin before anything begins.
